When we named this our Premium Series we really meant it. These hives are constructed from red and white cypress grown here in Florida. We have our own mill so we can control the quality of the lumber and its moisture content ensuring a true Premium quality product.

We have spent a lot of time re-engineering an old style corner joint that interlocks at the same time it creates a miter. At first glance there really isn’t much difference other than that the finger joint look is gone. The difference is twofold and long term: this joint allows for a continuous glue line that covers the joint 100%  locking out unwanted pests but more important is the fact that almost no end grain is exposed like it is on a finger jointed or half lapped box. End grain takes in water like a sponge creating a perfect place for rot to start., if the end grain is not exposed the box will naturally last longer. This joint also assembles in a fraction of the time as a finger jointed box. Simply glue the length of the joint, stand the two sides together and nail! Did we mention that our box is "self squaring" as well? Our Premium Series Hives also feature our unique “stingless” top feeder. When you change feeding jars on the top of the hive you are not exposed to bees as you are on other hives. If you feed from the back of the hive you’ll probably never get stung while feeding.
